"The Artist"

When I was a child growing up in West Virginia, I would ride my bike along the railroad tracks for two miles just to watch a glass blower create his beautiful paperweights and art glass. In my mid-thirties, I pursued my life long dream to blow glass at Jacksonville University. I have studied under many master glass blowers, but my education came full circle when I was able to return to my home town and work with Bob Hamon.  Bob was the artist that inspired me at a young age. Today, I create my own art glass in Punta Gorda, Florida and hope to inspire

others as I was.

Inspiration and ideas for my work seem to have been stored in my mind for many years for I am overflowing with new ideas and techniques that help me create my own style of work. Mixing traditional and contemporary art glass designs allows me to use a progressive approach to glass blowing. Manipulating the combination of many hues of color and stretching the design limits of the molten glass while keeping its natural flowing appearance is creating harmony between the art and craft. The creative process is choreographed and adhere together in the end as an encore in a musical. As I put the piece away for the annealing process I am already mesmerized in thought about my next creation. Creating the glass masterpiece alone is not enough as my true rewards come when someone else is pleased by my work.
